KHADY SArR, DANCING LIFE

Grounding and connecting to oneself are the pillars of Khady’s educational approach. She emphasizes the importance of creating a link between earth and sky, as well as approaching traditional African dances with a particular respiratory and emotional awareness. Originally from Senegal, Khady expresses her identity through dance. His Her style, nourished by multiple influences, flourishes through graceful gestures and extraordinary energy.

Born in the heart of the emblematic district of Medina, Khady is the natural heir to a rich cultural heritage: the Sabar. Like all Senegalese children, she received a very natural education to the rhythm of popular festivals and traditional rituals, which still give meaning to this dance today. Then Trained by great masters such as the choreographer Joe Bousenzy of the ballet "Foret Sacrée" of Dakar in Mandingo dances of Guinea, she was able to enrich and broaden her knowledge by integrating the training of the Lullaby Company of the choreographer Alain Gonotey in contemporary dance once in France.

In Bordeaux she was able to benefit from the teaching of Mrs. Adama Camara and Ousmane Gallo Soumah, two great dancers from the African Ballets of Guinea, then the accompaniment of the choreographer Vincent Harisdo during the creation of his her solo dance: "Racines". To go even further and to better understand the body and its mastery, Khady also trained in yogalates and pilates at the Evelyne Frugier center in Cannes.

Very involved in the question of transmission, she considers that words such as "breathing", “anchoring”, “awareness of the body, its movement and its musicality”, constitute the fundamental ingredients of the language of dance. Speaking of transmission, Khady emphasizes: “my goal is not to make you love my dance, but to make you discover yours, and to dare”.

She created the master class project around the Sabar circle “Dare the Sabar circle and Femininity” in Bordeaux in 2022, followed by the TCSM workshop and the Tambali class in 2024. Khady is one of the best teachers of her generation, she guides her students with talent and generosity towards awareness of their bodies, and of the importance of the links between music and gestures in traditional dances of sub-Saharan Africa, notably Sabar and Mandingo dances

THE TRANSMISSION

"I transmit because I have received and continue to receive.

My birth continent, Africa, is called the "cradle of humanity": a precious land of intense spiritual resources.
I was fortunate to be raised in traditions that place people at the center of everything.

We are sacred beings naturally endowed with power, resources, strength, intelligence,

in connection with the elements that surround us and with which we form a single, inseparable whole."

my pen dances

I'm sitting here
Somewhere here
In the middle of nature to contemplate divine beauty and enjoy the silence.
I'm sitting here
To leave an indelible mark of my passage
I made myself beautiful with flowers and my Bordeaux red dress to charm the birds and the setting sun.
I'm sitting here
Deposited by the movement of life to connect me to my sisters and brothers of humanity.
I'm sitting here
To embody my "gore"
To feed myself from the earth and continue on my way
I'm sitting here
To welcome my doubts
To face my fears
To resist hatred and ignorance
I'm sitting here
To make room for beauty
To celebrate my heritage
I am Khady SARR
I am a woman, artist, mother, citizen committed to a more resilient humanity.
My family lineage mixes three language communities
Serrere, Diola and Lebou from Senegal. I dance and make others dance to celebrate life in all its dimensions.
I am Earth, I am Water
I'm sitting here
Because I belong to the land of free beings.
Because my heart beats
I'm sitting here

Doli sant (infinite gratitude)
